FAQS

HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?

The number of sessions required will depend on your individual needs. Therapy may be short term (3-6 sessions) or longer-term (12+ sessions). Sessions may be set weekly, fortnightly or monthly. We will discuss what is right for you during your first few sessions.

DO I HAVE TO HAVE A REFERRAL FROM A DOCTOR?

You can self refer to psychology without a doctors referral but you won't be able to claim a Medicare rebate. Some private health funds will pay a rebate even if you don't have a doctor's referral. However, each health fund is different, so please check the terms of your health fund before attending. You cannot claim both Medicare and private health against the same session invoice.

HOW DO I GET A MEDICARE REBATE?

If you have a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP or a referral from a Psychiatrist then you may be eligible to claim a Medicare rebate. Due to recent changes because of COVID, you may be eligible for up to 20 psychology sessions per year (from Jan to Dec). The rebate is currently $128.40 for standard session duration. When you pay your invoice your claim will be sent to Medicare and you should receive your rebate to your nominated account within 48 hours.

CAN I VERIFY YOUR QUALIFICATIONS?

Yes absolutely. Ahpra is the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. "Psychologist" is a restricted title. Anybody who says they are a psychologist should be registered with Ahpra. You can check the Register of Practitioners on the Ahpra website. www.ahpra.gov.au

A Clinical Psychologist requires an endorsement for the Area of Practice - Clinical Psychology.

WHAT IF WE DON'T CLICK OR I WANT TO STOP THERAPY?

Your therapy is for you and it's important that you feel you are getting what you need. I will do my best to tailor therapy to your specific requirements. Your feedback is always welcome,
appreciated, and any concerns will be addressed. If you decide I'm not the right psychologist for you then either myself or your GP can help you to find an alternative. Sometimes people do need to stop therapy or take a therapy break and then resume when they can.

WHERE CAN I PARK?
